The name of the island has different forms. The explanation is very simple. It is very difficult to transcribe the Thai type due to its characters and, therefore, it is often written as Ko Lanta, or Koh Lanta, Lanta Yai, /Lanta Noi/, often just Lanta. Nevertheless, it always means the same ? a beautiful island in the Andaman Sea.

On the south-west coast of Thai Peninsula there is Koh Lanta island enchased like a pearl in the Andaman Sea which is still protected against a manufacture called Tourism. MAGIC Ko Lanta island is the right choice for everyone who wants to have a break in present hurried times and spend a few days in the Thai way of life SABAY, SABAY. It is acknowledged and protected Thai National Park which is also connected with the continent via boat for passengers and ferry. There are towns Krabi and Trang distant less than two hours from there. Both of them have their own airports. Krabi and near Phuket have even international airports.
From the north to the south, 27 km, there are beaches along the western part of Koh Lanta. Nowadays it is a miracle ? beaches on Lanta island compared to crowded summer resorts. You will not meet anybody on most of them. You can relax undisturbed and watch unrepeatable sunset over neighbouring Ko Ha and Ko Phi Phi islands which is different every day.

Ko Lanta, an island aside but not lonely, an island which connects quiet family atmosphere with business. Lanta island differs from other more popular islands. It is still one of a few islands where there are not many tourists like in a beehive, although Lanta has a complete infrastructure. You can find everything there. From luxury hotel resorts, over small, cheap family resorts with bungalows, restaurants, bars, massages, shops, post office, police and fire stations to a hospital. In spite of all these conveniences you can still hire a scooter and within 5 to 10 minutes get to a beach where you will not meet anybody. It sounds unbelievably but it is a reality and Lanta is one of the last tropical paradises on the earth.

There are other 52 islands which are a part of the Ko Lanta National Park, consisting mainly of limestone. Only two of these islands are settled. Ko Lanta Yai and Ko Lanta Noi. While Ko Lanta Noi is an island of farmers, Ko Lanta Yai is an island with beautiful beaches and it is becoming more and more popular among tourists.
Temperature on Lanta does not change much during the year. Day temperature is between 32 - 34 C◦, at night it is between 20 - 25 C◦. Water temperature is between 28 - 32 C◦ all year long.

The tourist season starts in October and ends in August but there are more and more people who like Koh Lanta so much that they stay on the island all year long, even in off-season months, mainly for its quiet atmosphere.
Nowadays more and more people look for quiet and we are fed up with crowded beaches in Europe or other world summer resorts. Investors from all over the world realize this as well and start to move their businesses to Ko Lanta slowly. Property prices in Thailand keep growing and there are fewer and fewer places for building. Sure, Lanta will not avoid the boom which Phuket, Pattaya, Koh Samui and many other islands have experienced but I know that we can enjoy this world not devastated by tourism for a few next years. We can enjoy Lanta, one of the world paradises. Thanks for that.
